Police on Tuesday arraigned two applicants, Jafaru Aliyu and Ifeanyi John, in Mpape Upper Area Court, Abuja, on charges bordering on conspiracy and attempt to commit an offence.
Aliyu and John, all of Kado, Kuchi area, Abuja, were charged with alleged conspiracy, criminal trespass, mischief and attempt to commit an offence.
According to the prosecutor, Mr Edwin Ochayi, the case was reported on May 3, by one Donald Anagha, of 112, Zone D Jahi village, Abuja.
Ochayi told the court that the defendants conspired and went to the complainant’s house, damaged his padlock with the intent to steal his property, and were caught in the act.
The prosecutor said during police investigation, the defendants admitted committing the offences.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 327 and 95 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Hassan Mohammed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case until June 21, for hearing.
