Two suspects, Oseni Toheeb, 27, and Oni Femi, 30, were on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged membership of a secret cult.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 1, at about 7:40pm at Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the defendants, on the said date, unlawfully belonged to a secret society called “Aye confraternity.”

According to him, the offence contravened Section 64(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap C. 16, Laws of Ekiti state, 2012.

The defendants pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, prayed the court to grant them bail in liberal terms, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Timothy Abe, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in like sum each.

Abe adjourned the case until Sept. 2, for further hearing.
