The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned two men Oladapo Ogunbode and Mwanfor Vincent at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for alleged unlawful possession of firearm.

Ogunbode 20, and Vincent, 22, whose addresses were not provided, were facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and possession of firearm.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Dec. 25, 2019 at Kokoro Abu area of Ikorodu.

Ajiteru said that the defendants were arrested with a locally-made pistol and a cutlass.

He said that when they were accosted by the police, they were unable to give satisfactory explanation on how they obtained the gun and the cutlass.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that Section 411 stipulates two years jail term for conspiracy.

The Magistrate, Mr O.M Dawodu, admitted the defendants on bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan.30 for mention.
