Two men, Lekan Adegbebe, 26, and Isiaka Sulemon, 20, were on Friday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, over alleged assault and stealing of a Nokia phone worth N4,500.
They are being tried on charges of conspiracy, assault and stealing which they denied committing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Aug. 5 at Ile-zik Along Abeokuta Expressway Road, Lagos.
Eruada told the court that the defendants attacked, stole the phone and a wallet which contained company’s identity card and other valuables belonging to the complainant, Mr Adeyemi Adeoye.
He added that the duo also assaulted the complainant by using bottle to inflict injury in his right leg in the process of stealing from him.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411, 287 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Dan-Oni adjourned the case until Sept. 23, for mention.
