The 2019 edition of the Federation of Youth Soccer Clubs (FEYSOC) of Nigeria football tournament took centre stage in Enugu on Wednesday as 49 teams battled for survival.
The football tournament which started on Tuesday Aug. 12 has 16 clubs registered in U-13 and 16 clubs in U-16 category, while 17 clubs registered in U-18.
Speaking to Nigeria News Agency in Enugu on Wednesday, the FEYSOC coordinator, Lofty Uche, said that clubs from Abuja and other parts of the country were participating in the tournament.
Uche, who expressed satisfaction on the teams’ performance, said that the spectators and football agents were fishing out players already.
He said that teams were prepared for this year as there were lots of talents on ground and expressed gladness that the tournament was taking place in three venues.
NAN reports that the U-16 is taking place at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) ground, while U-13 is taking place at Queens Secondary School pitch.
The U-18 category is taking place at Rangers International Football Club of Enugu temporary stadium inside Liberty Estate.
Results for the day, Indomitable FC of Uwani, Enugu beat Destiny FC of Owerri by 4-2 and Accurate FC of Abuja defeated Emmydon FC of Owerri 3-0.
Some results In U16 category, Rising Stars FC of Imo defeated Builders FC of Imo 3-1, Anambra Football Academy played out 1-1 with Super Stars FC also of Anambra as Chile Bright FC of Imo lost 1-2 to Shine FC of Imo.
In the U-13 category, Samkoson FC Academy defeated Lions of Hope of Nsukka, Enugu by 1-0 and News Generation Football Academy of Imo beat Perfect FC of Aba 2-0.
Golden Boots Football Academy drew 3-3 with De Young Academy.
Meanwhile, action would continue on Thursday as the clubs would play their last and third matches of their group stage.
