Man, 20, arraigned over alleged burglary, stealing

Ado-Ekiti, April 15, 2019 A 20-year-old man, Abdulazeez Nasiru, was docked on Monday at an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged burglary and stealing.

 

Nasiru, whose address was not given in court, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

 

The prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 10 at 7 p.m., at Oke-Ori Omi area of Ado-Ekiti.

 

He alleged that the accused broke into the house of the complainant, one Abdulahi Bolaji.

 

The prosecutor also said that the defendant was alleged to have stolen one Elepaq generator valued at N45,000 and 13 green iron sheets also valued at N18,000.

 

He said that the offences contravened Section 411 (1&2) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

 

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable the police duplicate the file and forward it to office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for legal advice.

 

The court did not take the plea of the accused.

 

The magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, ordered that the defendant should be kept in police custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the DPPs.

 

She adjourned the case until April 26 for mention.
