A couple, Oni Alege and Nimota Alege, on Friday appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, over alleged kidnap of a 14-year-old girl.
Oni, 50 and Nimota, 58, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping and abduction, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offence in April at 10:00a.m. at Okerenbete Villag, Ile-Ife.
Ojiezele said that the couple conspired and kidnapped the girl to an unknown destination.
He stated further that the offence contravened Sections 225, 364 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Sunday Olagbaju, urged the court to grant his clients bail in liberal terms, adding that they would not jump bail and would produce reliable sureties.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Owolawi ordered that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means and should reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He added that the sureties shouls show evidence of three years tax payments to Osun Government.
The case was adjourned until June 20.
