Mr. Eazi set to launch `emPawa Africa’ platforms in July



Nigerian superstar artist Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibaderica a.k.a :Mr Eazi is set to launch three service provider platforms known as `emPawa Africa’ in July.

The artist made known on his Twitter handle @mreazi stating: “I said it, and I am doing it! Empawa Distribution, Empawa Publishing, Empawa Label Services all Launch JULY 19!!!! Jah be Praised.”

According Eazi, emPawa Africa is a “service provider” that should not be conflated with his label Banku Music.

The singer has decided to officially launch other arms of the service provider on July 19, a project he has been working on for the past 12 months.

Mr Eazi recently teamed up with former X3M music songtress, Simi to deliver this melodious love song titled “Surrender“.

“Surrender” is a track off Mr Eazi’s new album “Lagos To London’’.

The Banku act moves his music from his root Lagos to his international base and new found home, London.

The mixtape “Life Is Eazi” Vol 2 enlists 15 wonderful tracks that is of International standard.

The renowned artist has also performed alongside with Burna Boy at Coachella 2019.

In 2017, Mr Eazi released the Sesan-directed music video for “In The Morning”, the song features vocals from Toronto rapper Big Lean.

He also released the Teekay-directed music video for “Fight”, a song that features additional vocals from DJ Cuppy.

Celebrity Couple Jamie Foxx, Katie Holms split

Hollywood Celebrity couple,Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes have both ended their six years relationship joining the growing list of celebrities in Hollywood whose relationship has collapsed in the last year.

The oscar winner was recently spotted holding hands with singer Sela Vave outside of a nightclub in West Hollywood.

The duo had been together since 2013, though they never officially confirmed their relationship

Kattie Holmes revealeed that she doesn’t really care about what Jamie does with his life as they haven’t been together for months now.

The  former couple started dating back in 2013 ,a year after she ended her marriage to Tom Cruise.

The duo kept their relationship away from the prying eyes of the public.

Even though they tried keeping their relationship away from the public, it was a known fact they were in an exclusive relationship.

However,the Celebrity couple finally appeared together in public for the first time at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammys Gala in New York in 2018, and they walked a red carpet together for the first time at the Met Ball in May.

Meanwhile,  Foxx had in June said that things were “,going swimmingly” and the couple were making long distance work, though that’s clearly not the case anymore.

They have frequently shut down engagement rumors over the years, and will now go their separate ways.

 They join the growing list of celebrities in Hollywood whose relationship has collapsed in the last year

COSON advises youths to take advantage of creative industry



The Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Mr Tony Okoroji, on Tuesday urged youths to take advantage of the creative industry by being more innovative with the contents of their productions.

Okoroji told the Nigeria News Agency in Lagos that the Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC) had in the past three decades continued to guarantee the protection of intellectual property rights.

“The younger generation needs to have the courage to be more creative in other to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the commission to protect intellectual property.

“The NCC will implement the law to its best, but it takes on the individual’s creative person to use the law of the commission to make sure that they develop their life.

“I urge the younger generation therefore, to use the facilities set up to improve on their creativity and push their career to the next level,” he said.

The chairman said that Nigerian music and films were increasingly becoming more competitive in the international community with diverse blend of culture that makes up Nigeria coupled with the unique style of afromusic that makes the Nigerian entertainment industry attractive to foreigners.

Okoroji, who said that the entertainment industry had become a major money spinner for the Nigerian economy, urged the NCC to remain focused in the protection of intellectual property.

“My prayer for NCC is that they find the courage to continue to do what is right so as to encourage quality creative contents capable of growing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.

“I am dreaming and praying for a commission that is completely focused on the interest of the stakeholders, musicians, writers and actors.

“This will allow for speedy development in the entertainment sector which will have a ripple effect in the Nigeria nation as a whole,” Okoroji said.

I can’t fail my country, I’ll fight on, says Mr Nigeria



Nelson Enwerem, the current Mr Nigeria, representing the country at the ongoing Mr World in the Philippines, says he will not disappoint his nation with support from citizens.

Enwerem told the Nigeria News Agency in a message from Philippines that in spite of the injury on his knees, he would fight through to the final.

NAN reports that Enwerem, a 24-year-old graduate of Pure Physics, hurt his knee during the sports challenge category which led to his being eliminated from the category.

He described the elimination due to the injury as his major challenge.

“My major problem since I came here was hurting my knee and dropping out during the first challenge (sports challenge) but I’ve been persistent.

“I’ve been fighting though with the pain and limping to compete because I can’t fail my country,” he said.

According to Enwerem who is also a fashion designer, there hasn’t been any elimination so far but we’ve had different category competitions to select winners and am very positive on winning one of them.

He said that the organisers had started announcing winners of various challenges of which he is positive of bagging one of the categories.

“The sports challenge was won by Mr South Africa, Extreme challenge by Mr Ireland, while the other winners will be announced before the grand finale on Friday.

“I’m very positive of wining one of them,” he said.

Enwerem, also a model and actor, appealed to Nigerians to support him by going to his site to vote for him and like his posts on social media.

He added that the more votes from Nigerians would boost his morale and also increase his chances of winning.

“I seriously need the support of my country, it’s a big morale booster to know that the people you represent support you and care for your well being; I need them to vote for me.

“Please, follow my journey on the social media pages, comment, post about me and get to the world out there,” he said.

Mr Nigeria, while commending NAN for projecting his performance at the ongoing competition, noted that his country’s blogs were not projecting his progress reports.

“Thank you very much, NAN, I have seen your stories, I am extremely grateful but it hurts that all these are going on and almost no blog is talking about it,” he said.

He then commended the organisers of the competition for having a hitch-free competition so far.

“The competition has been going on well and I’m very glad I have this once in a lifetime experience,” he told NAN.

NAN reports that Enwerem is one of the 13 young men representing Africa at the ongoing Mr World competition in the Philippines.

The African countries competing are Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Ethiopia, Guinea Bisau, Kenya, Mauritius, Sierra Leon, South Africa, South Sudan and Nigeria.

NAN also reports that Mr World 2019, which is the 10th edition started on Aug. 6, and will end on Aug. 23, in Manila, Philippines.

The current champion, Rohit Khanddelwal from India, is expected to hand over the crown to his successor at the end of the event.

BBNaija (S4): Cruisetopia, Frodd up for possible eviction



Housemates in ‘Cruisetopia’ group and Frodd are up for possible eviction in the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

Nigeria News Agency reports that the group lost this nomination task against ‘The Icons’ who were up for eviction last week.

Housemates up for possible Eviction this week are Diane, Frodd, Jackye, Gedoni, Mercy, Mike and Seyi.

Although Frodd is a member of the winning team ‘The Icons’, he was placed on the eviction list by Elozonam, who saved Venita with the power of chance card.

For five minutes, ‘The Icons’ and team ‘Cruisetopia’ were Tasked to a Challenge which involved each and every team member’s participation, including the head of house, Esther.

There were two marked rectangular boxes for each team, each rectangular box had a large bucket of coloured water and ten small silver cups.

The teams were required to fill as much of the silver cups as possible in the frame of five minutes.

The Challenge involved the Housemates climbing Biggie’s ‘obstacles’. Biggie had some deliberate ‘steps’ obstacle on the course to tighten the game.

Using their carefully thought out strategies, each team had to fill the silver cups one at a time.

Following Biggie’s rules, each cup had to be filled to the brim before the team could proceed to the next cup – all to be done within the marked box.

For this Challenge, teaspoons were provided for the purpose of transporting the water.

NAN reports that as the game hit day 51, housemates pull out strategies to increase chances of winning the 60 million Naira Grand Prize.

Wizkid becomes first African to hit 8m monthly listeners on Spotify



Afropop star, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid has become the first African artist to hit eight million monthly streams on Spotify.

Spotify is an online, music streaming platform that pays royalties based on the number of artists streams as a proportion of total songs streamed.

Nigeria News Agency reports that streaming records revealed Wizkid’s popularity on the platform on Monday.

The previous record was held by Congolese rapper and singer, Maitre Gims. He had seven million monthly listeners.

This win follows Wizkid’s recent collaboration with DJ Spinall and Tiwa Savage on ‘Dis Love’.

The singer also featured on ‘Like,’ a new single by British-Ghanaian rapper and singer, Kojo Funds.

The music star is also the first African artist to walk the runway at a Dolce and Gabbana fashion show while his music `Soco’ played at the background.

Wizkid started recording music at age 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

In 2018, he became the first African artiste to sell out Skyway Theatre. The only other artist who has achieved same feat in Minnesota, is Beyonce .

The ‘Sweet Love’ singer recently made Billboard entry for his collaboration with Beyonce on her ‘Lion King’-inspired album.
