Blue Camel Energy, a firm handling the street lightening project in Jos and environs is to train 10 Plateau youths on renewable energy, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to the state.

Mr Yusuf Suleiman, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Jos, that the beneficiaries would be trained at its training Academy domiciled in Kaduna.

Suleiman said that the gesture was part of the first phase of his company’s contribution to the development of the state, saying that more youths would benefit from the gesture.

He said the trainees would, after graduation automatically be employed by the firm as maintenance agents that would maintain the solar street lights installed in the state.

“We don’t intend to bring foreign bodies to maintain the street lights we installed in the state and so we are going to train youths from the state and engage them to maintain the facilities.

“The training will be in batches but for now we are starting with 10 beneficiaries.

“In Kaduna where our academy is located, we usually train over 100 youths annually and we intend to replicate same gesture in Plateau if giving the enabling environment.

“So we are not only in Plateau to work and take but we shall also give by creating employment opportunities for the youth in the state,” Suleiman said.

He said that the state would feel the impact of his firm, as he plans to extend his Corporate Social Responsibility to primary and secondary schools, as well as primary healthcare centres in the state.

Suleiman said his firm was contracted to install and maintain solar powered street lights covering over 72 km across major streets in Jos and environs by the state government.

He said the project had the advantage of creating more wealth, saying that it would boost tourism and other social activities, improve security of lives and property and would also create employment opportunities.
