Residents of Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State have praised members of the Senate and House of Representatives over the peaceful conduct of election and inauguration of its leaders.

A cross section of residents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday, expressed optimism that the calibre of legislators in the National Assembly gave a lot of hope that they would be able to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the teeming populace.

Mallam Ibrahim Koli APC Party Chairman of the local government area said that the National Assembly leadership elections and inauguration witnessed in the upper and lower houses were historic moments that had offered Nigerians the reason to be hopeful of the future of the country.

Koli added that the peaceful conduct of lawmakers in the two houses of the National Assembly was an indication that the leaders would sustain the spirit of unity in diversity.

He, therefore, urged the legislators to be transparent and diligent in carrying out the mandate bestowed on them by their constituents, saying: “they should bear in mind the fear of God knowing that they shall all give account of their deeds”.

Also, Mallam Ibrahim Salahudeen, the Zonal Vice Chairman, Zone 12 of United Nigeria Peoples Party, described as unfortunate“the position in which the Senate kept President Muhammadu Buhari in the past four years”.

He alleged that the situation was rather unfortunate as it made it difficult for Buhari to keep most of the campaign promises he made prior to the 2015 presidential election.

“But we are happy with this crop of leaders that has emerged. With them, the President would be able to accomplish much,” he said.

Salahudeen urged politicians to discard religious and tribal sentiments and support the President in his efforts to take the nation to its desired height.

Micah Nboni, the Vice Chairman of Jema’a local government in his opinion commended the smooth inauguration of the Legislators, adding: “Nigerians should support the government, both at the state and federal levels, so that the welfare of our people would be guaranteed.”
