Erdogan, Putin set to meet at sidelines of G20 summit in Osaka

Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for the Turkish president, said the leaders would take part in a “long and detailed bilateral meeting’’ during the June 28 to 29 summit in Osaka.

The news came after Erdogan’s office announced in May that a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump would also take place at the sidelines of the summit.

The White House said that the two presidents had discussed that possibility on the phone.

Ties between the U.S. and Turkey have worsened amid a dispute between the NATO allies over Ankara’s purchase of a S-400 surface-to-air missile system from Russia.
