Abaga Toni tasks new Sangarin Amba on inclusive, quality leadership

Mr Lawrence Sylvester Ayih II, the Abaga Toni of Toni Chiefdom in Nasarawa State, has urged the Sangarin Amba I, Mr Martin Kure Abeshi, to be father to all and provide quality leadership in the interest of peace and development.

Sylvester Ayih II made the call on Monday while playing host to Kure Abeshi in his palace at Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area of the state.

He said that leadership of inclusion would go a long way in carrying everybody along, irrespective of their affiliations, in the interest of peace and for development to thrive.

The first class traditional ruler urged the new Sangarin Amba 1 to embrace everybody and to ensure equality, while discharging his responsibilities.

He appreciated the new monarch for the visit and assured him of his readiness to support him to succeed.

“I want to thank you for the visit and to assure you of my readiness to support you at all time.

“I call on you to use your experience to promote peace among your people and other Nigerians, considering the importance of peace to societal development.

“Peace is priceless and non-negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society,” he said.

Sylvester Ayih II also urged his subjects and other Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and to live in peace irrespective of their affiliations.

Earlier, Kure Abeshi, who is a fourth class traditional ruler, said that the visit was to seek for the monarch’s blessings, support and cooperation to succeed.

“I am here to solicit for your prayers and cooperation to enable me succeed in moving my chiefdom and the state to greater height.

“I will give peace, unity and security of my subjects the topmost priority considering the importance of peace to national development.

“I will promote peaceful co-existence among my people, the state and Nigeria at large,” he said.

Kure Abeshi, who is a former Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), also thanked Gov. Tanko Al-Makura for approving his appointment as the Sangarin Amba I and promised not to fail in his responsibilities.

Besides, he solicited the support and cooperation of the people of the area to enable him succeed.
