Abia appoints Ugorji new Badminton Association chairman

The Abia Sports Council has appointed a badminton enthusiast, Emmanuel Ugorji, as the new Chairman of the state’s Badminton Association.

Issac Isaac, the state’s Director of Sports, in Ugorji’s letter of appointment, said the development was necessary after due consideration for his dynamism, drive hard work and contributions to sports.

“With your proven interest in sports generally, we are sure your appointment will help to strengthen the Association,’’ the Director of Sports added.

Isaac said Ugorji, a former Senior Editor with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, “so much deserve’’ his appointment in the interest and for the upgrading of sports in Abia.

NAN reports that the Abia State Badminton Association is responsible for the coordination and smooth running of the badminton sport in the state, under the supervision of the State Sports Council.
