Adamawa Govt. reintroduces promotion examination for senior civil servants

Adamawa Government has reintroduced promotional examination for qualified Directors looking for the position of Permanent Secretary in the state Civil Service career.

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, made the disclosure when he held a special meeting with the top senior civil servants who recently wrote the examination for vacant positions of permanent secretary on Friday in Yola.

Fintiri revealed that the development was not meant to witch-hunt anybody, group, tribe or religious, but was to bring sanity in the state’s civil service career.

According to the governor, any civil servant that writes the examination while it remained six months for him to retire from service, government would not considered him or her.

“Our administration reintroduction of the promotional examination to the position of Permanent Secretary is to restore and bring sanity in our Civil Service career which was bastardised in the past.

“I assure you with confidence and transparency those that secured merit and have required highest marks, will get the position irrespective of their background.

“I congratulate you for participating in the exercise and believing in the policies of the present administration,” Fintiri assured.

He reaffirmed his administration’s position of just and fair treatment to all civil servants as his cardinal objective, irrespective of religious or tribe.

Earlier in his remark, the State Head of Civil Service, Mr Edgar Sunday, who led the permanent secretaries, thanked the governor for not interfering in the examination process.

He revealed that the examination was conducted in December 2019 through transparent modalities, adding that the examination would improve the state civil service career.
