Osogbo, April 23, 2019 A 35-year-old house agent , Shittu Adeyinka, on Tuesday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates Court for allegedly defrauding two persons of N94,000.
Adeyinka, whose address was not provided, is facing a four-count charge bordering on stealing and fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 24, 2018, at Temidire Estate, Osogbo.
Abiodun said that the defendant, who claimed to be a house agent, collected N50, 000 from the complainant, Mr Joseph David, to get an apartment for him, a representation he knew was false.
He said the defendant also collected N44,000 from one Omoniyi Olusola to get him an apartment, but failed to do so.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 419, 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsel, Mrs Bose Dada, prayed the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Ola Olagoke, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
Olagoke said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to Osun Government.
He adjourned the case until May 28, for mention.
