Agribusiness: FG pledges sustained partnership with grains supply association

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthen partnership with Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN) to boost agribusiness development and job creation in Nigeria.

Alhaji Muhammad Nanono, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), gave the assurance when the association led by its Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Pambegua, paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Abuja.

Nanono noted that through such partnership the goal of the current administration’s next level agenda in the agric sector and to create the desired value chain would be achieved.

He further noted that the partnership would promote global market access of Nigerian branded products with massive job creation as well as increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the country.

In his remark Dr Mohammed Bello, Permanent Secretary, FMARD, lauded the association for doubling its effort toward supporting the current administration’s agenda by buying into the intervention policies of the Federal Government.

According to him, such policies include getting farmers back to farms and ensuring that they produce more grains for the market and create jobs.

Pambegua, chairman of the AFGSAN, commended President Muhammadu Buhari on his agricultural agenda and vision of making the agricultural sector the biggest employer of labour in the country.

He emphasised that with strategic linkage of processing and marketing of products it would reduce Nigeria’s huge income inequality, boost production and economic activities in the rural areas.

The visit had in attendance 36 State Chairmen of the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN) and other officials.
