Stakeholders in the agriculture sector comprising ActionAid Nigeria, OXFAM in Nigeria, One Campaign, the Ecowas Commission, are scheduled to hold a two-day conference on the 2020 agriculture budget in Lokoja, Kogi.
This was made known in a letter signed by Ene Obi, the Country Director, ActionAid Nigeria.
The two -day consultative meeting which is holding from July 16 to 17, is in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
The conference has the objective of leveraging understanding on the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), the Nigerian Agriculture Promotion Policy and its connection to the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) targets.
Another objective of the meeting is to boost the knowledge of Nigerians on the National Agriculture Investment Plan 2 (NAIP2).
The conference would also strengthen Nigerian citizens’ participation towards making 2020 Agriculture budget responsive in ensuring food security and wealth creation.
News Agency of Nigeria , reports that the meeting also aims at supporting effective biennial reporting by Nigeria to the Africa Union Heads of States and Government.
““This is in line with the Malabo Declaration and Commitments of 2014,’’ the letter stated.
