Agriculture: Players to showcase adapted technologies, solutions from 29 countries, in Lagos

No fewer than  120 global technology players will in March in Lagos showcase adapted technologies and solutions in the agriculture space, from 29 countries.


Mr Akin Alabi, Co-Founder and Agribusiness Coach of Corporate Farmers International (CFI), made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos on Friday.

Alabi said that the technologies would be  exhibited at the sixth Agrofood and Plastprintpack Nigeria 2020.

He said that the three-day event to begin on March 24 would  showcase  technologies for the Nigerian market in agriculture, food processing, plastics, printing and packaging.

.

He said that the event would also feature conferences of more than 40 Nigerian and European technology experts.

Alabi, who is a promoter of the event jointly organised by Fairtrade, Engiccs and AHK Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, said that the event would attract the interest of the international community to Nigeria’s agriculture sector.

“More than 40 Nigerian and European experts will discuss issues such as the Nigerian Agrofood and plastprintpack industries in terms of free trade, outlook of plastics and packaging,” he said.

Alabi added that the event would feature discussions on  the need for adopting global packaging standards, enforcing food safety to promote export, and financing opportunities for agro-tech startups, among other topics.

“This event will further drive Nigeria’s agriculture sector toward sustainability, while encouraging farmers in the space to adopt new technologies that will promote commercial agriculture and sufficiency,’’Alabi said.

He also said that more than 2,000 trade visitors would be expected.

According to him,  institutional support for the Agrofood and Plastprintpack Nigeria 2020 is from the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States.

He added that  Access Bank, AHK Nigeria, Flanders State of the Art, German Ministry for Economic Affairs, IOPN, Jordan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Kuwait Public Authority for Industry were supporting the event.
