Anambra Security Challenge Cup: FRSC trounce DSS 2-0 in opening clash

Awka, Aptil 16, 2019 The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra Command on Tuesday beat its counterpart from the Department of State Services (DSS) two goals to nil in their first match of the maiden Anambra Security Challenge Football competition.

Joseph Edeh put the FRSC Stars ahead with a goal from the penalty spot in the first half while Chukwuemeka Okoli consolidated the lead in the second half of the exciting encounter.

The DSS lads fought gallantly to reduce the tally and increase their chances of advancing from Group A but their efforts could not yield dividend before the referee signaled the end of the match.

Pascal Anigbo, Coach of the FRSC team expressed satisfaction with the performance of his colleagues.

Anigbo said they were not going to rest on their oars but go and work to repeat the feat in their next match against Nigeria Immigration Service team.

Congratulating his team, Andrew Kumapayi , Sector Commander of FRSC said the victory was a confirmation of the corps place on sports.

Kumapayi, who was on ground to see the match and cheer his personnel in the game, said they had their eyes set on the coveted prize.

He lauded the organisers for putting together the competition adding that it would foster greater collaboration among the sister security agencies.

“It is planning and determination, from the moment this competition was announced, these teams had made up their mind to win the cup,” he said.

On his part, Joseph Ukeje, coach of DSS said it was not end of the road for his team.

Ukeje however, expressed reservation on the performance of the match officials adding that the second goal against his team should not have counted.

In the Group B opening match, Nigeria Prisons Team defeated their NSCDC counterpart by 3-1.
