An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Mr Moshood Salvador, has urged the Lagos State Government to empower the youth with tools to enable them achieve the ‘waste-to-wealth’ initiative.

Salvador made the plea in an interview with the Nigeria News Agency in Lagos on Tuesday.

He appealed to the government to provide youths with machines and other tools to recycle waste, saying that this would reduce the presence of refuse in Lagos.

‘‘Government does not need to give the youth cash but to provide them with necessary tools and enabling environment to flourish.

‘‘Once that is done, the government should get 20 or more of the youth registered. You will not see refuse in Lagos,’’ he said.

He called on the state government to increase the number of refuse dumps and introduce better treatment at the dump sites to create more dumping space for refuse.

Salvador, however, commended the activities of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) for making Lagos cleaner.
