Aregbesola tasks ICRC on creativity, innovation to address infrastructure deficit



The Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has urged Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) to be more creative and innovative to address infrastructure deficit in the country. Aregbesola gave the advice when the Director-General of ICRC, Mr Chidi Izuwah, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. He explained that Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit required robust and well articulated approach to address the challenge. He said ICRC was key and would play important role in ensuring the country was taking to amiable position in terms of infrastructural development. “No time to waste Nigeria needs to move very fast to bridge the gap to maintain our position because of other black nations that look up to us. “If Nigeria fails, that means we have failed other African countries and we must not fail as a nation,” he stated. Aregbesola commended the ICRC boss for demonstrating uncommon zeal and commitment to drive accelerated development in the country. The director-general of ICRC earlier said his organisation had been collaborating with the ministry through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to boost development. Izuwah said establishment of Nigerian passport application support centres in the U.S., Canada, UK, China and ECOWAS Biometric ID card were among the projects executed with PPP. He said others were deployment of National Fire Data Repository Centre received certificate of compliance, concession of Nigeria Correctional Land Swap and implementation of an intelligent immigration and border management system which got certificate in 2017. Izuwah expressed his determination and commitment to work with relevant agencies, departments and ministries of the government for the country to achieve accelerated development.
