Ayo Banjo, Oloyede, others to grace UNICAL’s NAL annual lecture



University of Calabar (UNICAL) says Prof. Ayo Banjo, a former Vice Chancellor of UI and Prof. Ishaq Oloyede,the JAMB Registrar, are among scholars expected at its Nigeria Academy of Letters (NAL) annual lecture.

A statement by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Prof. Eno Nta, on Tuesday in Calabar, said the lecture slated for Feb.13 would hold at the UNICAL’s International Conference Centre.

The 2020 lecture with the theme: “History and the Mythopoeia Vocation: The Nation as Capricious Grand Guignol” will be delivered by Prof. Osofisan.

Nta said that the lecture, which would be hosted by UNICAL Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu, would be chaired by the President of NAL, Prof. Francis Egbokhare and its Secretary, Prof. Ayobami Kehinde.

Also expected at the lecture are Prof. Emeritus Femi Osofisan and Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Executive Secretary, National University Commission (NUC).

The Nigerian Academy of Letters was inaugurated at a meeting held at the University of Ibadan on Nov. 14, 1991.

NAL is the apex organisation of the Nigerian academics and scholars in humanities and the lecture is aimed at promoting academic excellence in all branches of humanities.
