Two senators from Oyo State, Teslim Folarin and Abdufatai Bihari, have condoled with the people of Oke-Ogun area of the state over the death of Pa Salau Adelere, a committed ‘Awoist’.

In separate condolence messages, the two All Progressives Congress (APC) senators said Oke-Ogun area and Oyo State had lost a giant in the death of Adelere.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the late Pa Adelere,  an elder statesman and commited follower of Chief Obafemi Awolowo from Iseyin Local Government Area, died on Friday, aged 90.

The former Senate Leader said in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Yekeen Olaniyi, that the

late frontline politician believed and worked for the progress of Iseyin, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State as a whole.

He described the deceased politician as a giant and one of the surviving disciples of the Awolowo school of thought.

“All his life, Pa Adelere defined his politics and pitted his tent early in life with the progressive school.

“Even after the demise of the late sage and when others abandoned the Awoist camp for other political philosophy, he remained steadily on the Awo progressive track,” he said.

Folarin conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, the great people of Iseyin, Oke-ogun and APC family, praying Almighty God grant him eternal rest.

Also, Sen. Buhari condoled with the family, people of Iseyin and Oke Ogun on the death of a core progressive politician.

Buhari said that Pa Adelere’s death was a colossal loss to the family, Iseyin, Oke Ogun, Oyo State and the nation’s political system.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport, described the late Adelere as a great politician who believed in serving humanity in one’s best ability.

According to him, “I had a very good relationship with Late Pa Adelere. He was a political leader and father who produced many worthy political leaders during his life time.”

He stressed that in view of the vacuum created by the death of Pa Adelere, the late politician left indelible and memorable records in the political system of Oyo State as well as Nigeria.

Buhari prayed that God grant the soul of the political stalwart eternal rest and reward his good deeds on earth with Aljanna Firdaous.

The lawmaker also prayed that Allah uphold all members of his family left behind.
