An indigenous oil company in the Niger Delta, Belemaoil Producing Ltd., says it plans to donate 100 bed space children hospital in Daura, Kastina State to curb the challenges of child mortality rate within the state.

The firm’s President, Mr Jack-Rich Tein (Jr.), disclosed this on Wednesday in Port Harcourt at the signing of the contract with four consulting firms that will build and equip the hospital.

Tein described the proposed building of the hospital as a contribution to humanity, saying it would also help to reduce the challenges of child mortality rate in Daura and Katsina emirates.

“It’s important to note that this project is for humanity and to showcase love in recognising the importance of the human race.

“What we have demonstrated today is a clear statement that those of our brothers in the north and we down south are one, and we are not different.

“It is an understanding of our collective needs and collaborating to address the need is the most important foundation that we need to lay as legacy for our children.

“This is one thing that I see will further unite the northern and southern parts of the country and also create good relationship,” he said.

The oil mogul urged the contractors to consider the project as an important legacy for their business.

“By this, you have to ensure that at the successful execution of this project, it will be seen as a brand new baby everyday and not an ancient building after one or two years.

“So, we need to put the best technology, and also hire competent hands that will mange the facility,” he added.

The Chief Consultant to the Project, Mr Mansur Kurfi, said that the children’s hospital would have sections for scanning, x-ray and laboratories.

Kurfi said that there would be a maternity ward and maternity theatre for operation that would be used when needed.

“It has state-of-the-art incubators with oxygen facilities, well equipped emergency sections and consulting rooms and residential space for doctors,” he said.

The consultant said that the hospital project would be completed in August 2020.

The Leader of Daura Emirate Delegtion, Alhaji Sani Daura Ahmed, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), and Zannan of Daura, commended Belemaoil Producing for embarking on the hospital project.

Ahmed said that the hospital when constructed and equipped, would help to boost child health and management.

“So, on behalf if the Daura Emirate, I thank you immensely for this, it’s highly impressive and quite unprecedented after providing water with many boreholes for us.

“We cherish you, and we pray God to protect Belemaoil to continue in this laudable move to serve humanity,” he said.
