Cloudy, sunny, hazy weather to prevail on Tuesday – NiMet

Abuja, March 11, 2019 The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted cloudy to partly cloudy, sunny and hazy weather conditions with chances of thunderstorms activities over most parts of the country on Tuesday.

 

NiMet’s Weather Outlook on Monday, in Abuja, predicted partly cloudy conditions with day and night temperatures of 35 to 37 and 22 to 27 degrees Celsius.

It also predicted chances of localised thunderstorm over Mambilla Plateau, Lokoja, Makurdi, Jalingo, Ilorin, Lafia and Niger in the afternoon and evening period.

The agency predicted that northern states would experience sunny and hazy conditions with day and night temperatures of 36 to 41 and 20 to 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, southern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy morning with day and night temperatures of 31 to 36 and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

“Localised thunderstorms are expected over Akure, Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Shaki, Oshogbo, Enugu, Awka, Abakiliki, Calabar, Port-Harcourt, Eket, Ikom and Obudu in the afternoon and evening.

“Localised thunderstorms are anticipated over the southern and central states with chances of sunny and hazy condition over the northern state in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.

NiMet predicts cloudy, sunny weather Wednesday to Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy, thundery and sunny conditions across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja said increase in rainfall had been experienced across the country.

It said that the recent increase in rainfall could be attributed to vertical moisture depth into the atmosphere.

On Wednesday morning, cloudy conditions with interval of sunshine are anticipated over the northern region.

“ During the afternoon and evening period, few thunderstorms are expected over parts of Kaduna, Yelwa, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara and Southern Sokoto while other parts of the North are expected to have patches of clouds.

“Over the central part of the country, few clouds will be experienced over this part of the country during the morning hour, “ it said.

The agency forecast pockets of thunderstorms over parts of Jos, Kaduna and Taraba state in the afternoon and evening period.

NiMet further forecast southern regions to be cloudy in the morning hours with chances of a few thunderstorms over Benin and Aba axis.

It envisaged better prospect of thunderstorms over the inland of South-East and coastal belt during the afternoon/evening period.

For Thursday, cloudy conditions with interval of sunshine are likely over the northern region with chances of thunderstorms over Kebbi, Yelwa, Sokoto and its environ during the morning hours.

“Pockets of thunderstorms are envisaged over the northern region places, such as Kano, Katsina, Potiskum and Maiduguri during the afternoon/evening hours.

“Cloudy skies are expected over the central cities in the morning hours with possibility of thunderstorms over the high ground areas in the afternoon and evening hours,“ it said.

According to the agency, cloudy skies will be experienced over the inland cities with chances of few thunderstorms over the coastal region during the morning hours.

It forecast a good prospect of thunderstorms over the inland and coastal belt during the afternoon and evening period.

For Friday, the morning hours over the North will experience cloud with interval of sunshine with few thunderstorms anticipated over parts of the North-West.

“Thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Maiduguri, while others places will experience presence of few clouds during the afternoon and evening hours.

“ The central region should expect cloudy atmosphere with possibilities of thunderstorms over the high ground areas in the morning hours, “ it said.

The agency forecast chances of thunderstorms over parts of Yola, Jalingo and Mambila axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet envisaged Southern parts of the country to be mostly cloudy in the morning with prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Calabar, Eket and Port Harcourt axis.

According to the agency, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of the inland and its coastal areas later in the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet predicts cloudy, thundery weather activities, May 31 – June 2

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy and thundery activities over the country from May 31 to June 2.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja said thunderstorms were reported over the central cities down to the south of the country.

The agency said current observation showed that moisture was still much up to the northern region and that it was expected to aid the sustenance of weather systems over the region.

On Sunday, early morning thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Kebbi and northern states. Later in the day, cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the north.

“There is prospects of thunderstorms over southern Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola, Sokoto, Yelwa, Katsina, Kano and Zaria axis.

“An overnight system is expected to affect eastern parts of central states, giving few thunderstorms over Niger State and Ilorin axis.

Mambila Plateau should expect thunderstorms as well. As the day progresses, cloudy condition is anticipated with chances of scattered thunderstorms across the central region,’’ the agency said.

It envisaged inland cities of the south to be cloudy in the morning hours with chances of thunderstorms over Enugu, Obudu and Ikom axis.

NiMet predicted prospects of light thunderstorms over some coastal cities like Calabar, Benin and Ijebu-Ode axis during the morning period.

The agency also predicted most parts of the coastal region to experience thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening periods.

On Monday, cloudy condition with intervals of sunshine is expected over the north within the forecast period with a chance of thunderstorm activities over Yelwa during the morning hours.

“Also, there is prospect of thunderstorm activities over Maiduguri, Zaria, Sokoto, Yelwa, Gombe and Yola during the afternoon and evening period.

“Much cloudiness is anticipated over the central cities in the morning with chances of thunderstorms over Jalingo.

“Thunderstorms are envisaged over the central region during the afternoon/evening period.’’

According to NiMet, cloudy morning is expected over the inland and coastal cities in the morning hours with prospects of thunderstorm over Lagos, Ikom, Obudu, Owerri, Calabar, Yenagoa, Warri and Port Harcourt.

It forecast few thunderstorms over the inland and coastal region during the afternoon and evening period.

The agency predicted cloudiness to prevail over the north on Tuesday within the forecast period with chances of a few thunderstorms over Yelwa and Sokoto axis during the morning hours.

It envisaged scattered thunderstorms over places like Kaduna and Yola during the afternoon and evening hours.

“ Cloudy skies are anticipated over the central states with chances of thunderstorms over Abuja, Lafia, Lokoja and Niger during the morning hours.

`There are prospects of thunderstorms over the central region during the afternoon and evening hours.

“Cloudy conditions are likely over the inland and coastal region with prospects of few thunderstorms over Calabar, Warri, Benin and Port Harcourt axis in the morning hours.’’

According to the agency, thunderstorms are anticipated over the inland and coastal areas during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet predicts cloudy, thundery weather activities Thursday  to Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy and thundery activities across the country from Thursday to  Saturday.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja predicted partly cloudy conditions over the northern region on Thursday morning.

It predicted thunderstorm activities over parts of Taraba, Gombe, Gusau, Southern Sokoto, southern Kebbi and Adamawa on Thursday afternoon and evening.

According to the agency, other parts of the north are expected to be in partly cloudy conditions.

NiMET said that central cities would  be  partly cloudy-to-cloudy condition, with prospect of thunderstorms over Kogi and Niger in the morning.

It forecast isolated thunderstorms over Jos, Kogi, Kwara, Lafia and Abuja in the afternoon and evening hours of Thursday.

The agency envisaged the southern regions to be cloudy in the morning, with chances of thunderstorms over Calabar, Obudu, Ikom, Ogoja and Eket axis.

It predicted thunderstorms over the inland and coastal belt during afternoon and evening.

For Friday, partly cloudy conditions are likely over the northern region during the morning period, with prospects of thunderstorms over the region during afternoon and evening hours.

“ Partly cloudy-to-cloudy skies are expected over the central cities in the morning hours, with chances of thunderstorms over Abuja, Minna, Ilorin and Jos,” the agency predicted.

It added that in the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms would be expected over the region.

“Cloudy skies will be experienced over the southern region during the morning hours, with chances of thunderstorms over Eket, Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki, Calabar and Port Harcourt.

“The afternoon and evening hours show a good prospect of localised thunderstorms over the inland and coastal belt,” it said.

According to the agency, the morning hours over the north will experience partly cloudy-to-sunny
conditions on Saturday.

NiMet predicted partly cloudy-to-cloudy condition over the northeastern parts, with chances of thunderstorms over the northwest during the afternoon and evening of Saturday.

It forecast that the central region would be partly cloudy-to-cloudy atmosphere in the morning hours.

“However, later in the day, there are chances of thunderstorms over Jos and Abuja.

“The southern part of the country will be mostly cloudy in the morning, with prospects of rains over the coastal cities.

“ Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over most places in the inland and coastal areas,“ it said.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy and thundery weather activities across the country from May 23 to May 25.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja  forecast cloudy conditions over northern region in the morning hours of Saturday with prospects of overnight into early morning light thunderstorms over Yobe and southern Borno axis.

According to the forecast, during the afternoon/evening period, there are chances of increased cloudiness with slim chances of thunderstorms over parts of Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, northern Borno, Gombe and Taraba axis.

It further forecast other parts of the north to be mostly cloudy with intervals of sunshine.

“The central cities are likely to be cloudy during the morning hours.

“However, parts of Niger, Lokoja, southern Nasarawa, and Benue are expected to experience overnight into early morning thunderstorms with little rains.

“ The afternoon and evening hours hold better prospects of weather activities as isolated thunderstorms are expected over Abuja, Benue, Kogi, Niger and Kwara axis.

“The inland areas of the south and coastal belts should be predominately cloudy with few isolated thunderstorms over Ado Ekiti, Abeokuta and Ondo, Calabar, Lagos, Bayelsa, Port Harcourt and Ijebu-Ode axis during the morning period.

“Isolated thunderstorms are expected over most places in the inland and coastal areas in the afternoon/evening hours.’’

NiMet predicted Cloudy conditions with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Biu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano and Katsina in the northern region during the morning hours of Sunday.

The agency also predicted isolated thunderstorms over the north to affect parts of Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano and Katsina axis and environs during the afternoon/evening period.

It envisaged increased cloudiness over the central region with chances of early morning thunderstorms over parts of Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa and Jos axis.

According to NiMet, there are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over the high ground areas to affect Jos, Abuja, Kogi, Niger and Makurdi areas in the afternoon and evening period.

It further envisaged cloudy conditions over the inland cities with prospect of few thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours.

NiMet predicted light thunderstorms over Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Benin and Port Harcourt in the coastal region during the morning hours with isolated thunderstorm over most places in the coastal region later in the day. 

“For Monday, cloudy skies with spells of sunshine are expected over the northern region in the morning hours.

“During the afternoon and evening period,  cloudiness with spells of few thunderstorms are expected over Yelwa, Zaria, Potiskum, Nguru, Dutse, Kebbi, Jalingo and Yola.

“ The rest of the cities over this region are likely to remain cloudy with intervals of sunshine. The central region is expected to be mostly cloudy.

“ However, we anticipate isolated thunderstorms to affect parts of Abuja, Jos, Kogi and Kwara axis during the afternoon/evening period.

“ Increased cloudiness is expected over the inland and the coastal areas of the south during the morning hours with prospects of thunderstorms over the region in the afternoon and evening hours,’’ it said.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja,  predicted cloudy conditions in the morning on Thursday over the northern region, with prospects of overnight thunderstorms over Katsina, Kano, Dutse and Mambilla plateau environs.

It further predicted pockets of thunderstorms over parts of southern Borno, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe and southern Kaduna during the afternoon, with other parts of the north expected to have patches of clouds.

The agency reported prospects of early morning thunderstorms to affect the high ground areas, places like Abuja, Lafia, Minna and their environs over the central part of the country.

According to NiMet, pockets of thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of Ilorin, Lokoja, Lafia, Jos and Abuja environs in the afternoon and evening period.

It envisaged a few thunderstorms over the south west inland areas, especially over Ondo, Akure and Ibadan, while the Southeast inland was expected to be cloudy in the morning hours.

The agency predicted a better prospect of isolated thunderstorms over the inland areas in the afternoon.

It forecast isolated thunderstorms over the coastal cities to affect places like Calabar, Eket, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Ijebu-Ode with prospect of thunderstorms over the coastal belt.

“ On Friday, an overnight system is expected over most places in the northern region to affect places like southern Borno, Potiskum, Dutse, Bauchi, Kaduna, Gusau and Katsina during the morning hours.

“ Pockets of thunderstorms are envisaged over the northern region, especially over parts of Gusau, Yelwa, Gombe and Yola environs during the afternoon/evening hours. Cloudy skies are envisaged over the central cities in the morning hours.

“Later in the afternoon and evening hours, isolated thunderstorms are expected over the high ground areas to affect Abuja, Minna, Lokoja and Ilorin environs,“ it said.

NiMet forecast isolated thunderstorms over parts of southwest inland areas, especially over Abeokuta, Iseyin and Benin with parts of the southwest and southeast inland to be cloudy during the morning hours.

According to the agency, the afternoon and evening period hold a better prospect of isolated thunderstorms over the inland areas of the south  especially residents in Shaki, Iseyin, Akure and Osogbo.

It envisaged the coastal cities of Calabar, Uyo, Eket, Port Harcourt, Warri and Yenegoa were to experience light thunderstorms during the morning hours with possibilities of thunderstorms over the entire region in the afternoon/evening hours.

“On Saturday, the morning hours over the north is likely to experience increased cloudiness with few thunderstorms anticipated over parts of Kebbi. Pockets of thunderstorms are anticipated over the region during the afternoon/evening hours.

“The central region should expect cloudy atmosphere with possibilities of isolated thunderstorms over the high ground areas in the morning, however,  later in the day, there are chances of thunderstorms over most places in the region.

“ Southern parts of the country will be mostly cloudy in the morning, with prospects of thunderstorms over southeast coast. Later in the afternoon, widespread thunderstorms are anticipated across inland and its coastal areas, “ it said.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy, sunny and thundery activities from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

NiMet`s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, stated there had been continuous influx of moisture in the past couple of days culminating to increased cloudiness and thundery activities over most places in the country.

Also the influx of moisture is increasing, especially over the north and south, although with a little respite today (Tuesday) with isolated thunderstorms currently experienced over Jos and Kaduna axis.

“ Partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected over the entire northern region during the morning hours on Wednesday with partly cloudy to sunny condition is expected to persist later in the day.

“ There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Kaduna, Yelwa, Gombe and Bauchi and over southern Borno and southern Yobe where increased cloudiness could lead to isolated thundery activities with little or no rainfall.

“ Partly cloudy to cloudy atmosphere is expected in the morning over central region. There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms to affect parts of Jos, Abuja, Ilorin, Minna, parts of Nasarawa, Benue and Kogi states in the afternoon.“

The agency also forecast the inland cities of the south and the coastal cities to be cloudy.

It further forecast prospects of isolated thunderstorms within the inland areas such as parts of Enugu, Umuahia, Owerri, Abakaliki, Ondo and Ogun while the coastal cities expected to be under thunderstorms in the afternoon.

According to NiMet, partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected in the morning hours of Thursday with the northernmost part of the region is expected to be partly cloudy in the afternoon.

The agency predicted parts of Kaduna, southern Gusau, Yelwa and Mambilla Plateau to experience isolated thunderstorms while isolated thundery activities are envisaged over southern Kano, southern Katsina, Gombe, Adamawa, and Jalingo.

NiMet envisaged partly cloudy to cloudy atmosphere in the morning over central part of the country and isolated thundery activities over parts of Plateau, Nasarawa, FCT, Niger, Kwara and parts of Kogi states in the evening.

The agency predicted chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abeokuta, Ibadan, Akure, Uyo, Calabar and environs of the inland cities of south and coastal cities in the morning with the rest of the cities in the regions to be cloudy.

It envisaged high chances of widespread of thunderstorms over inland cities of southwest and entire coastal cities while southeast inland areas especially parts of Enugu and Owerri expected to be under isolated thunderstorms in the evening.

“For Friday, partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected over the northern region in the morning with chances of early morning isolated thunderstorms over Yelwa, southern Jalingo and Mambilla Plateau.

“Later in the afternoon, isolated thundery activities are anticipated over places like Dutse, Gombe, Bauchi, Yola, Kano, Gusau, Zaria, Kebbi and environs while rest of the cities in the region are expected to be under partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.

“ In the central region, partly cloudy to cloudy atmosphere is to characterize the region in the morning,“ it said.

The agency said there are chances of isolated thundery activities over parts of Kogi and Nasarawa states later in the day, while isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Plateau, Abuja, Kwara and Benue states.

The agency predicted cloudy atmosphere over the entire inland while the coastal cities such as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Eket will have chances of isolated thunderstorms in the early hours of the day.

It further predicted little chance of thundery activities with little or no rainfall over the southwest inland later in the day while the prospects of isolated thunderstorms to be high over southeast inland and the coast.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny, cloudy, and thundery activities across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.

According to NiMet Weather Outlook released on Monday in Abuja, the northward pull of the inter-tropical discontinuity showed moisture influx into the country, reaching most parts of the North.

It further said there would be thunderstorm over some central cities and in the inland and coastal regions.

“For Tuesday, in the morning, the North is expected to be partly cloudy with intervals of sunshine.

“Localised thundery activity is anticipated over the North-West to affect parts of Southern Sokoto, Yelwa, and Gusau and thunderstorms over parts of Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba during the afternoon and evening periods.

“Partly cloudy to sunny skies are expected over the central cities in the morning with prospects of afternoon thunderstorm activities to affect places like Ilorin, Niger, Abuja, Northern Nasarawa, Jos, Adamawa, and Mambilla Plateau.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy condition is anticipated over inland areas of the South in the morning.

“However, during (the) afternoon and evening periods, residents of South West inland areas are expected to experience localised thunderstorm,’’ the weather forecast said.

According to it, cloudiness is envisaged over coastal cities during the morning period with light intensity of thunderstorm over the region during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet also forecast partly cloudy to cloudy condition over the entire Northern region in the morning hour of Wednesday, with possibilities of thundery activities over parts of the North East such as Southern Borno, Southern Jigawa, Southern Yobe, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe later in the day.

According to the agency, partly cloudy to cloudy skies arec envisaged over the central cities in the morning, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over the central cities to affect parts of Mambilla Plateau, Jos, Abuja, Minna, Ilorin, Kaduna, Lafia, and Yola.

It further predicted cloudy morning over inland areas and better prospect of thunderstorms over the entire region during the afternoon/evening.
NiMet envisaged possibilities of morning thunderstorms over the South West coast places like Ijebu-Ode, Ondo, Ogun and Yenegoa leaving the South East coast in cloudy conditions.

It further envisaged thunderstorm over the entire coastal states during the afternoon and evening hours.

“For Thursday, partly cloudy to cloudy condition is expected over the Northern region with chances of localised thunderstorm over the North Eastern region, especially in areas like Southern Borno in the afternoon and evening periods.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected over the central cities in the morning, while in the afternoon and evening periods, thunderstorms are expected over the high ground areas of the central cities as well as Mambilla Plateau.

“Cloudy conditions should prevail over the inland and coastal cities in the morning.

“As the day progresses, thunderstorms are anticipated over the entire inland and coastal cities during the afternoon and evening periods,’’ the agency said in the weather report.

NiMet weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, predicted northwest region to experience partly cloudy conditions within the forecast period on Sunday, with sunny skies over northeast throughout the day.

It further predicted partly cloudy to cloudy conditions to prevail over the central cities in the morning with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over places like Adamawa, Taraba, Jos and Bauchi axis.

According to the agency, Ogun and Oyo states are likely to experience thunderstorms during the morning hours along with some coastal cities like Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Yenagoa and Calabar.

“For Monday, partly cloudy to sunny condition is anticipated over the northern region during the forecast period, with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions expected over central cities in the morning.

“The afternoon and evening period holds prospects of thunderstorms over the central cities.

“Cloudy conditions are expected to prevail over the inland and coastal cities during the morning hours, while thunderstorms are anticipated over the entire inland and coastal cities during afternoon/evening period,” NiMet predicted.

NiMet predicts cloudy, sunny weather conditions from Saturday to Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy, thundery, and sunny weather conditions across the country from Saturday to Monday.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook released on Friday in Abuja predicted influx of moisture-laden winds from the southern parts of the country up to the northern parts, causing an increase in moisture accumulation.

According to the forecast, there will be a few cases of thunderstorms over the central cities, inland areas

of the south, and the coastal states.

“For Saturday, the northern region is expected to be in cloudy conditions with interval of

sunny weather during morning and evening periods with exception of Mambilla Plateau, Gusau,

Yelwa, Bauchi, Jalingo, and Yola where thunderstorms are to prevail.

“Due to the influx of moisture extending to the central cities, cloudy conditions are expected over the region in the morning, with possibilities of thunderstorms over the Abuja, Jos, Kaduna, Zaria, Lafia, Makurdi,

Bida, and Lokoja axis in the afternoon/evening hours.

“Cloudy conditions are anticipated over the inland areas of the south and southwest coast with exception of Eket, Calabar, Rivers (Bonny), and Yenagoa axis where thunderstorm is expected in the morning hours.

“Later in the day, thunderstorm is anticipated over the southern region of the country in places like Lagos, Abeokuta, Akure, Ado-Ekiti, Ibadan, Oshogo, Enugu, Owerri, Akwa, and Ogoja,” the agency said.

It further forecast sunny conditions for Sunday over the northern region in the morning

over, Bauchi and Jalingo in the afternoon/evening period.

It said the central cities would be in cloudy conditions with interval of sunny weather in the morning.

According to it, there are chances of thunderstorms over parts of Abuja, Jos, and Kaduna.

It also envisaged a cloudy morning over the southern region with prospects of thunderstorms over Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Ado-Ekiti, Oshogbo, Ondo, Enugu, Obudu, Ogoja, Ikom, Owerri, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Eket, and Calabar during the afternoon/evening hours.

“For Monday, the northern region is expected to be in cloudy conditions with interval of sunny weather during the morning and evening periods with the exception of Mambilla Plateau, Taraba (Jalingo), and Adamawa where thunderstorms are to prevail.

“While cloudy conditions with interval of sunny weather are expected over the central cities with chances of thunderstorms over Jos, Kaduna, Makurdi, Kogi, and Kwara in the afternoon/evening period, cloudy conditions should prevail over the inland and coastal cities, while thunderstorms are anticipated over Akure, Abeokuta, Ogoja, Obudu, Benin, Asaba, Owerri, Beyelsa, Calabar, Eket, and Port Harcourt during the afternoon/evening periods,” it said.
