Court remands 2 illegal miners for allegedly matcheting farmer

Abdullahi said that the defendants unlawfully conducted themselves in a manner that caused breach of peace.

According to him, they forcefully entered into the complainant, Olagunju Taiwo’s farmland and started mining gold without his consent.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendants also assaulted Taiwo by matcheting his head and right finger, when he accosted them about their mission in his farmland.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 249, 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
