A Dutse Grade I Area Court in Abuja, on Wednesday ordered that a businessman, Friday Musa, who allegedly defrauded a widow of one million Naira, be remanded in a correctional facility, pending bail perfection.
Musa who resides in in Bwari, is charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The presiding officer, Mr Suleiman Mohammed, held that order was to enable Musa to provide a reasonable surety to perfect his bail conditions.
Mohammed further said that a surety earlier provided by Musa failed to make himself available to the court after an order to that effect.
He adjourned further hearing on the matter until Nov.4.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Tunde Aowolo, told the court that Musa collected N1million from a widow, Salamatu Imman, with a promise to renovate her home.
Aowolo alleged that Musa converted the money to his personal use.
He said that Imman reported the matter at the Bwari Police station on June 22.
The prosecutor said that the accused confessed to the crime in the course of investigation.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile Musa pleaded not guilty to the charges.
