Court remands man for allegedly causing co-worker’s death

Ibadan, April 24, 2019 An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday ordered that a 21-year-old factory worker, Adeola Ajayi be remanded in prison, for allegedly causing the death of his 32-year-old co- worker, Joseph Edet.

Ajayi, whose address was not provided, is charged with murder.

Magistrate  Olajumoke Akande, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that Ajayi be be remanded  in Agodi Prison.

Akande held that the defendant would be remanded pending the outcome of the case file at the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until May 31, for mention.

The Prosecutor, ASP N. Essien, told the court that Adeola on April 11, at 5. 50 a.m., allegedly caused the death of Edet, by stabbing him with scissors.

He said that the incident occurred at Amir Plastic Company, No. 3, Emmanuel Alayande St., Oluyole Industrial Estate, Ibadan.

Essien said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 316, and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State 2000.
