A Senior Magistrate Court in Ilorin, Kwara on Tuesday ordered the remand of one Aburi Afu of No. 4, Saw-Mill Area, Ilorin at the Oke-Kura Prison for allegedly causing another grievous harm.

The Senior Magistrate, Abdulrahman Bello, made the order as the accused could not perfect his bail conditions.

The defendant is facing a five-count charge of criminal conspiracy, assault, causing grievous hurt, robbery and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Bello adjourned the case till Aug. 1, for mention.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Folorunsho Zacchaeus, had told the court that on July 10, one Alhaji Yusuf of No. 3, Alagbado road, Adewole area, Ilorin reported the case at the Nigeria Police ‘B’ Division, Surulere, Ilorin.

He said that Akeem had demanded for the money the defendant borrowed from him sometime in 2018.

The prosecutor said that the defendant’s thugs beat up Akeem ruthlessly, which resulted to serious injuries on his mouth and ear.

“The thugs also tied Akeem’s hands and legs and forcefully removed the sum of N40, 500 from his pocket, before he was later rescued by passersby,’’ he said.

Zacchaeus said that during interrogation, the defendant confessed that Akeem was beaten up in his presence, but refused to disclose the where abouts of the thugs.

The prosecutor said that investigation also revealed that it was the second time that the accused person tried to assassinate Akeem, because of the money.

Zacchaeus said that the offence is contrary to Sections 97, 265, 248, 298 and 229 of the Penal Code Law.
