A Cleric, Festus Bamidele of Christ Heal Church, Taiwo area of Ilorin, has called on well-to-do individuals to assist the poor and the vulnerable in the face of COVID-19 pandemic.

Bamidele made the call while speaking with the Nigeria News Agency in Ilorin on Wednesday,

According to him, there is need to support and share with the needy in this difficult time.

“Share with the needy and support them. If you don’t have money, give them food.

“It is not easy for some families to survive at this critical moment.

“Try and remember them. Don’t be selfish.

“They need you more at this difficult time. Give what you can afford to the needy and God will bless you more.

“Some have more than enough but they are not ready to give to their poor neighbour. Don’t watch your neighbour dying of hunger,” he said.

The cleric also called on religious leaders to support their members by giving out foodstuffs and relief materials.

“You can reach your church members through appropriate channel to bless them.

“You can remove money from the Church or Mosque account to buy foodstuffs and give to members.

“It is not only prayers they need. Give to the needy.

“We cannot wait alone for government to supply everything. Individuals have roles to play,” Bamidele said.

He, however, called on the public to stay safe, maintain proper hygiene and obey the rules of social distancing.

“Stay indoors and use preventive kits when necessary. We will surely win the fight against COVID-19 together,” he said.
