According to him, “we are going through unprecedented times and children across the country will be curious and affected about what is going on”.

He explained that there was need to assuage fears of children and explain the situation to them especially enlightening them on Coronavirus.

Lawal advised people to practically demonstrate how to wash hands to children as a preventive method.

He said parents could also show children other necessary precautions such as use of hand sanitisers and how to cough and sneeze in tissues and inside the elbow.

He advised parents to regularly clean the hands of their babies and toddlers often using soap and water.

He also warned parents to prevent their children from people who were sick, coughing and sneezing.

The pharmacist said there was need to clean and disinfect surfaces daily in household common areas including tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remotes, handles, desks, toilets and sinks, among others.

He added that parents should take extra precautions of babies and toddlers as they tend to pick anything from the floor into their mouths.
