The Special Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Agbado Unit, Ogun, on Wednesday donated hand sanitisers and snacks worth N320,000 to security agencies in the area.

The Agbado Unit Coordinator, Mr Jim Sanni, made the disclosure  during the distribution of the items in Agbado, Ogun.

Sanni noted that there was need for collective efforts in containing Coronavirus since government could not do it alone.

“We discover that the security agencies like FRSC, Police, TRACE, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC, were exposed to the public and be on the roads with little or no protection,” he said.

He said that the initiative was to encourage individuals and organisations to make contribution toward preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Sanni said that the lockdown order by President Muhammadu Buhari was necessary to check further spread of COVID-19.

“If it is not absolutely necessary to go out, stay at home to combat the pandemic,” he said.

CSP Olaore Adebayo, Divisional Police Officer, Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Division, commended the donors for the gesture.

“We are very grateful and God will replenish their pockets,” he said.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that some of the places visited to distribute the sanitisers and snacks were  Agbado, Alakuko, Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Station, among others.

Some security officers at checkpoints in Agbado and its environs were given hand sanitisers and snacks.
