Gusau, Dec. 18, 2018, (NNN) The Zamfara State main Committee on Voter Mobilisation, has urged traditional rulers to mobilise their subjects, who have not collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to do so before the 2019 general elections.

This advice was contained in a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the committee, Alhaji Nasiru Biyabiki and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NNN) in Gusau on Tuesday.

He said the committee chairman, who is also the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, had expressed concern on the failure of thousands of eligible voters in the state to collect their PVCs.

The statement lauded INEC for providing the PVCs in good time and called on traditional rulers, religious and other community leaders to encourage those who have registered but had yet to collect their cards to do so.

“Only eligible voters, who possess the PVC, will be allowed to vote and so it is good that we all participate fully in the decision making that will bring in our next set of leaders, ” it stressed.

The committee chairman also called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring security in the state to guarantee the movement of voters during the elections.

NNN reports that records at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in the state indicate a total of 133,000 unclaimed PVCs spread across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state. (NNN)
