Destruction/theft of facilities: IBEDC secures conviction against 7 vandals

The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on Wednesday said it had secured conviction for seven vandals who destroyed and carted away facilities of the company.

“Samuel Samson and Mayowa Adeboye were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun, for vandalism and cable theft. They received 30 months imprisonment.

“Femi Adewale was arraigned before the same court and was sentenced to four years in prison.

“Gbolahan Ogunjobi was sentenced to three years imprisonment for unlawful damage and stealing of a transformer.

“Ayeni Kayode also bagged six months for impersonating an IBEDC staff in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

“Ageniga Ayobami and Ganiyu Alao also got six months and three months jail terms, respectively, for stealing prepaid meters and reckless driving which caused damage to a high-tension pole,” Olanrewaju said.

Olanrewaju appealed to all customers and stakeholders to join in the fight against vandalism and energy theft.
