District Head advises parents, guardians on PTA meetings

Kankia (Katsia State), April 28, 2019 The District Head of Kankia in Katsina State, Alhaji Musa Hassan, has expressed concern over the nonchalance of some parents in the community toward attending Parents Teachers Association (PTA) meetings in the schools.

Hassan stated this on Sunday in Kankia while addressing people of the community as part of the activities marking his 10th anniversary as the District Head.

He said that he attended PTA meetings from one school to another in order to discuss the way forward on education at the grassroots.

Hassan, however, expressed dismay at the poor turnout of parents in most of the schools.

“I personally visit schools to discuss with other stakeholders on how to move the sector forward, because Kankia is known for education.

“I will not relent in my efforts to continue rendering my contributions to the education sector,’’ he said.

Hassan stressed the need for the parents to be present during such meetings where important issues concerning their wards were discussed.

He also urged people in the area to continue to join hands with traditional rulers, local government authority and security agents in tackling insecurity problems in the area.

The traditional ruler urged parents to continue to ensure proper upbringing of their children as part of the measures to curtail social vices among the youth.

Hassan also urged people in his domain to continue to be law abiding.

“Never take law into your hands, for sustainable peaceful coexistence,’’ he said.

He called on people to continue to support the traditional leadership with a view to move the community forward.

Hassan also admonished husbands to live in harmony with their wives and desist from beating them, saying that he would not condone such acts.

The District Head thanked God for the peace the area had enjoyed over a period, saying that the town was known for peaceful coexistence.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Musa Hassan, who was the 26th District Head of Kankia, was turbaned as Kankiyan-Katsina on May 16, 2009.
