Easter: fun seekers throng recreation parks in Ibadan

Ibadan, April 22, 2019 The popular Agodi Gardens, Shoprite, Ringii, Paris Kitchen and other fun centers in Ibadan were beehive of activities on Monday as fun seekers thronged the centres in celebration of Easter.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that there were a large number of people at the entrance of the Agodi Gardens in spite of the N500 entrance fee.

At shoprite, many parents brought a good number of their children in spite of the N300, N500 paid by the children to access the playing ground.

A father, Mr Adetunji Ayanniyi, who brought four children, said he tried his best to ensure that children celebrated the Easter and had fun.

“The children asked for it and since the occasion is auspicious, we thought it wise to bring them. We appreciate the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross of Calvary and today we celebrate the victory it has brought to us.

“We pray to be able to also make sacrifices for the well-being of others,’’ he said.

Ayanniyi urged the government to create a more conducive environment for the citizens by creating jobs, building roads, improving security and health sector.

Also, Mr John Alao, who brought two children and his wife, expressed gratitude to God for granting him and his family the grace to witness another Easter.

“We have to celebrate, have fun because the season is too enormous to be hidden. We had to raise money to ensure that we bring our children here to make them happy.

“As they are here, they are happy and that’s our joy; just to make them have fun and celebrate with other kids,” he said.

Mrs Nne Okereke, who brought her parents and daughter, thanked God for another Easter and prayed to God to keep her and family till next year.

“Today is my daughter’s birthday. Being a unique one as it falls on Easter day, I decided to bring members of our family to come and celebrate with us,” she said.

One of the operators at the Ride Rus Children Playing Ground, Shoprite, Mr Moses Asho, said operators made brisk business especially during festive periods as Easter.

He noted that the operators put in place some safety measures such as using seat belts and first aid boxes.

“We give bonus for Easter; we have games of N300, N500 and anyone that wants to play all the games will pay N2,500. `

`Children below five years must ride with adult and we advise small kids to be kept away from railings,’’ Asho said.

NNN reports that many fun seekers were also sighted at the museum, bubble plus and other fun spots in the city.
