Ikole-Ekiti (Ekiti), Jan. 28, 2019 (NNN) The Elekole of Ikole-Ekti, Oba Ajibade Fasiku, on Monday assured the management of Ikole Local Government Council that he would continue to give the necessary support to all their activities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NNN) reports that Fasiku made the promise during a visit of the Coordinating Director of the council, Mr Gabriel Fasanmi, to the Elekole’s palace in Ikole-Ekiti.
Fasiku, however, decried the dirty markets, street drains and major roads in the community, describing them as an eyesore.
He charged the council boss to ensure that adequate measures were taken to ensure cleanliness in the entire community.
“I want to assure the management of the council that I am ready to support them to promote and revive the community.
“Also, I wish to say that Ikole Local Government is not doing enough in cleaning our environment.
“During the past administration of Gov. Fayose, we did not benefit from the council administration.
“My chiefs and I are the ones paying for the cleaning of the markets to prevent outbreak of cholera in the town.
“But I have confidence in the new council administration that the condition of my town will improve by God’s grace,” he said.
Earlier, the Coordinating Director of the council had commended the traditional ruler for his advice and constant visits to the council.
Fasanmi assured the monarch that he would empower the environmental officers in the council with basic working tools needed to make the town clean.
He urged the traditional ruler to admonish his people to comply with the rules and regulations of the local government administration. (NNN)
