By Toba Ajayi

Ilorin, Feb. 21, 2019 Kwara Labour Party (LP)’s Governorship candidate, Mr Issa Aremu, has urged his supporters and other Nigerians to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday.

Aremu made the call in Ilorin on Thursday while addressing his supporters and other well-wishers at the party secretariat.

He described Buhari as an honest man and more presidential in approach to issues than the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

‘‘Buhari is a very honest man and has shown capacity for statesmanship. Go out and vote for him on Saturday.

‘‘Buhari will maintain our national assets and not sell everything to his friends. Buhari will take Nigeria to the promise land,” he said.

The LP candidate also lent his support for President Buhari’s order that security agents should be go tough on ballot box snatchers during the general elections.

He said there was nothing wrong in declaring war on political thugs who intended to frustrate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s bid to conduct free and credible elections.

‘‘Mr president never mentioned any party specifically. I wonder why PDP are wailing and politicising everything,” said.

The former Vice-President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), also condemned the political crisis in Ojoku, Oyun Local Government of Area of the state which claimed one life.

He described the incident as ‘sad’ and unacceptable in Kwara politics.

Aremu called on youths to be disciplined and not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs on Saturday.

‘‘We need to say no to thuggery, kidnapping, assassination and political crisis in order to move forward as a nation,” he added.

He also pledged to transform Kwara to paradise of Nigeria if voted into office.

‘‘Vote for me and vote for Kwara of your dream. Vote out PDP in Kwara and Vote in LP. Kwara deserve a better deal,” he said.

He also appealed to the people to vote for all LP candidates in the upcoming elections.
