`Ember’ months: FRSC counsels motorists on safe driving

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has advised motorists to guide against reckless driving especially from  September to December usually referred to as `ember’ months.

The Oyo State Sector Commander of the Corps, Mrs Cecilia Alao, gave the advice in a telephone interview with Nigeria News Agency on Thursday.

She urged motorists to obey traffic regulations to guarantee their safety and that of other road users always.

The commander said that the FRSC would not condone any act of indiscipline during the `ember’ months and beyond.

“I tell you in all honestly; the four months (September, October, November and December) are not different from other months.

“The cause of more accidents during the period is the non-compliance to traffic rules and regulations by motorists.

“If you observe traffic rules and regulations, if you do not speed, and you ensure that your vehicle is in a good condition before setting out, there will be fewer accidents.

“I want to passionately appeal to our motorists both private and commercial, to please obey all traffic rules and regulations, check your vehicles and fix any fault and also attend to fault signals before hitting the road.

“Our men will cover the whole state to ensure that accidents are avoided or reduced to their barest minimum,” she said.

The Sector Commander said that the corps would embark on safety education and sensitisation across parks in the state aimed at promoting safety on the roads
