Koko (Kebbi State), Feb. 16, 2019 (NNN) The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar, has urged youths to develop a passion for the study of history and culture, up to university level, to enable them chronicle their origin.

The emir made the call on Wednesday at the launching of a book entitled, “Tarihin Koko”, written by Samaila Abdullahi of Koko/Hesse Local Government Area of the state.

Bashar, represented by Sarkin Kabin Jega, Alhaji Arzika Bawa, said that by studying their history and culture, youths would also be well equipped to address challenges of modern day events.

“This is true as there cannot be a present without a past.Knowing history and culture will enable you to come up with solutions of modern day challenges,” he said.

He also urged youths in Argungu, Yauri and Zuru emirates to emulate the author of the book to be able to write their emirates’ history.

Earlier, Abdullahi said he was overwhelmed with the support and enthusiasm he received from his people on his work.

He pledged to write more books to meet the needs of his people.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NNN) reports that the book is about the history of Koko people and their culture.
