Emir of Bauchi calls for effective sensitisation campaign on school enrollment

The Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman has urged all relevant stakeholders in the state, to intensify sensitization campaign for enrollment of children into schools.

Suleiman made the call while addressing people at a mini durbar organised in Bauchi on Sunday as part of activitities for the celebration  of the Eid-el-kabir.

He expresses worries over poor enrollment of children and out of school children in the state.

He advised all the relevant stakeholders in the state to ensure effective awareness and mobilisation of parents, guardians, communities, religious and traditional leaders.

“I am also calling on the school-based management committees to know the importance of enrolling all school-age children into schools, and embark on a strong sensitisation campaign in the state,’’ he said.

The monarch appealed to the government to continue to invest significant amount of time and resources in order to turn around the fortunes of the education sector.

According to him, education is bedrock of development of any society, adding that the best thing that can be do to our children and wards,  is to ensure that they go to school.

The Speaker of the state Assembly, who is also the Acting Governor,  Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman, urged citizens of the state to remain law-abiding.

He assured that the present administration was committed to ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, as well as providing programmes that would promote development.
