Emir of Lapai urges Caretaker Chairman to ensure peace in the area
The Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Tafida, has tasked the new Caretaker Chairman of Lapai Local Government Area of Niger, Mallam Umar Aliso, to ensure that peace reigned in the area.
“He has to work hard to promote understanding, peace and progress, for these are what the people want,” he said.
The Emir charged him to brace up for the challenges that the new position demanded, which include hard work and resilience, adding that the council boss had to reach out to all the segments of the Emirate in fairness and equity.
“This will help him to get their cooperation and earn their confidence because he has to work to earn it and to prove that he deserves to be in that position,” he said.
The Emir noted that though, it was a huge task, one that has to be done well for him to gain the people’s trust and assurance.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NNN) reports that the state government had on Feb. 13, dissolved the tenure of the Chairmen and Councillors in the 25 local government councils after the expiration.
Government also directed the chairmen to hand over to their Director of Personnel Management in their respective councils, who are to assume office in acting capacity. (NNN)
