A former Minister of State for Information, Mr Ibrahim Nakande, has challenged female journalists to engage more in investigate reportage, saying it will bring many untold issues to the fore.

Nakande made the call in Jos on Wednesday, at a training for female journalists organised by NEXUS FUND in collaboration with Plateau of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

The theme of the workshop is “Curbing Hate Speech: Post Election Peace (Women, Peace and Security)’’.

The former said that hate speeches were “inhuman and often incite violence” and advised journalists to shun them.

He also urged them to eschew biases and sentiments in their reports.

Nakande called on journalists to set agenda for the government by ensuring that the government was responsible to its mandate from the electorate.

Earlier, NAWOJ Chairperson in the state, Mrs Jennifer Yerima, said that the workshop was timely and urged female journalists to be proactive in the training.

She advised them to build on the existing peace in the state through their reports.
