Lagos, Feb. 13, 2019 (NNN) A YouTube creator, Yemisi Odusanya on Wednesday advised youths on tips that would aid them in growing to be YouTube stars.

Odusanya said that popular videos had a lot of personalities and something unique about them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NNN) reports that YouTube launched in May 2005, is the world’s most popular online video community, allowing billions of people to discover, watch and share videos.

Today, YouTube has billions of users, accounting for almost one-third of all people on the internet.

Every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours of video on YouTube, generating billions of views.

“A pattern that makes a video/channel popular has to do with one that has a lot of personalities and unique on its own.

“The YouTube community is very active and will rate, comment on and share interesting videos. People often create video responses to other popular videos and these can get as many views as the original hit,’’ she said in a statement.

Odusanya said that YouTube was for everyone, saying that “one does not need to spend a lot of money to produce entertaining videos’’.

She said that “one will need a video camera but it does not need to be high-spec; it could be a webcam, mobile phone camera, flip video camera or a digicam.’’

Odusanya said that taking sometime to think about lighting and sound would pay off and basic editing would help to make the video more attractive.

“Most cameras come with editing tools. This is a fun project to do with a friend but if you need more help, use the YouTube community; there are millions of budding film directors who can give you tips.

“The YouTube Creator Academy has some great guides to make great videos, grow your channel, earn revenue, and get closer to your community,” she said.

Odusanya listed some tips or tricks that could be of benefit.

According to her, get inspiration from the best; watch other YouTube videos and get ideas from other geniuses who are uploading videos, be creative, people want to see something interesting.

She listed other tips as: to be timely, be consistent – do not upload just one video, give people a chance to get to know your work, offer something new.

According to her, be authentic, people love personality, be yourself – YouTube has something for everyone; so if you have got a talent, share it and know there is an audience for every talent.

She listed the don’ts as: “don’t be a copycat – you are unique and the world wants to see it. Do not be afraid to experiment; if your friends like it, it’s probably perfect.’’

Others tips are: do not make your videos too long; try to keep it under five minutes. Do not do anything you would not want the world to see and do not make your video too complicated. (NNN)
