The Nigeria News Agency , reports that the survey will focus on nutrition, immunisation, malaria and disabilities.

According to Dr Jubrin Suleiman, Survey Desk Officer for SOML-PforR, the objective of the programme is to increase the utilisation of high impact reproductive health, child health and nutrition interventions.

Suleiman said that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), National Population Commission (NPopC) and Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), were collaborating with SOML-PforR for the survey.

Speaking on reproductive health, he said the survey would examine birth attendance and Human Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV), testing during antenatal care.

“It will also look at breastfeeding, dietary deficiency, vision impairment, hearing loss and communication disability.

“124 individuals will be involved in the survey and 115 will constitute the survey teams, while nine persons will serve as replacements when the need arises,’’ he said.

Suleiman further disclosed that the experts would be selected based on their experiences in surveys and language skills, to enhance communication with respondents.

NAN, recalls that the National Nutrition and Health Survey is a household survey, designed to provide up-to-date information on situation of children and women in the country.
