An Owerri Family Court on Thursday ordered that Chiagorom Chidera, who falsified his age, be tried in a normal court.
She adjourned the matter until July 25 for further hearing
The police accused Chidera alongside 16-year-old student Samuel Madu, a student, of breaking into the home of 79-year-old Godfrey Amadi and carting away household items.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Oscar Mbaeri, told the court that the defendants committed theft, contravening Section 287 of the Penal Code.
Mbaeri said that the Anadi, who is from Ulakwo in Owerri North LGA, Imo reported the matter to the police upon his return on March 1.
He added that the birth date (Dec. 12, 2001) which Chidera gave the court contradicted the Dec. 12, 1999, which was obtained from his church during police investigation.
He begged the court to further charge him with attempting to deceive the court, as according to him, he had falsified his age.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Gregory Okemili told the court to proceed with the matter.
