A 42-year-old farmer, Robert Loma, on Tuesday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State, charged with assaulting his siblings, Taiwo and Adeoye Loma.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant on May 28 around 05.00 p.m. at Ode-Erinje in the Okitipupa Magisterial District beat up the two complainants, hitting them with blows on their bodies.

He said that the defendant also maliciously damaged some valuables of the complainants valued at N6,000 each and also stole a Techno phone valued N6,600, property of the first complainant.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 351, 451, 390 (9) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dickson Ogunfuyi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sums.

Ogunfuyi said that the sureties should provide the court with evidence of payment of taxes to the state government.
