Gov. Emmanuel has released funds for completion of projects in Eket – Commissioner

Governor of Akwa Ibom, Udom Emmanuel, has released sufficient funds for the completion of the ongoing projects in the state, Ephraim Inyang, Commissioner for Works in the state has said.

Inyang disclosed this on Wednesday, while inspecting the Eket Remodeling Project at Atabong in Eket Local Government Area of the state.

“I am in Eket to see the level of progress achieved so far within the Liverpool area of Atabong junction and also supervise the demolition of some structures that are on the right of way.

“The state government has released enough funds to ensure completion of projects in the state,” Inyang said.

The commissioner noted that compensation was paid to owners of properties in Atabong and its environs.

According to him, the governor has given directives that all the jobs in the area should be completed in due time.

Inyang said that there was no need to engage in talking with the communities but rather to expedite action toward the completion of phase one of the Eket remodeling project.

“We are going to get Eket project completed; Eket people need the project and the state governor needs the project.

“So nothing else is being considered than getting the Eket remodeling phase one done,” he said.

The commissioner said that any structure causing obstruction would be brought down for the roundabout in the area to be completed.

Inyang also hinted that structures from the Eket Post Office and Eket Market way for which compensation had been paid would be demolished next week.

“We need to be on Grace Bill Street in Eket next month to construct drains. Gov. Emmanuel is anxious to have the phase one of the roads completed,” he added.

He advised owners of kiosks close to the bridge along the 14 kilometre Odoro-Ikpe-Obotme-Arochukwu Road in Odoro-Ikpe, Ini Local Government Area to pull them down.

Responding, a leader in Odoro-Ikpe community, Mr Sunday Udofia, expressed gratitude to the state government for the project.

Udofia said government had brought smiles on the faces of the people of the area by embarking on the project.

He noted that for the past seven years, the people of the area had not been able to use the road because of its bad state.

Udofia prayed God to protect and bless the governor and the commissioner for the good work they had done in the area.
