Governorship candidate lauds portfolios assigned to ministers

Mr Uche Nwosu, a governorship candidate on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for assigning relevant portfolios to the new ministers.

Nwosu, who said this on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Abuja, said that the portfolios of the ministers showed that the president understood their field of experience and their ability to deliver in their areas of assignment.

He also commended the president for returning the re-appointed ministers back to their previous ministries to complete the policies they started.

“l want to congratulate the ministers for the different portfolios assigned to them and also congratulate the president for giving them portfolios according to their experience and fields.

“More especially, I want to congratulate the president for those of them that came back to their former positions such as Mr Babatunde Fashola, who is now in the Ministry of Works and Housing.

“Others are former governor of Akwa Ibom, Sen. Godswill Akpabi, among others, who is a real Niger Delta man to handle the issue of Niger Delta,” he said.

He called on the president to put in place a mechanism in which the ministers’ performances would be assessed quarterly.

The governorship candidate also cautioned against rivalry, especially among  the substantive ministers and the ministers of states.

According to him, there is no difference in the two as no minister implements policy on his own.

”The state and substantive ministers are the same as every policy proposal or implementation ends with the president,” Nwosu said.
