Newly elected officers of Gowon Estate Community Development Association (CDA) in Lagos were inaugurated on Friday by the Mosan/Okunola Local Community Development Area (LCDA) with a charge to be more committed to the development of the community.

Mrs Amusan Olawunmi, the Assistant Chief Community Development Inspector in the LCDA, who supervised the exercise, assured the officers of 100 per cent support from the LCDA.

Amusan advised the elected officials to get along with the government at the LCDA level to bring physical presence of government to the community and also work together as a body.

“You should put before the Mosan/Okunola LCDA projects that can make the people of the community feel the presence and benefit of the government.

“On projects, ensure proper records before, during and after the project via video recording or pictures of such projects.

Alhaji Oyebanji Daud, the new CDA Chairman, promised to ensure healthy environment in the community, adding that the issue of security would their major priority.

“In the past, Gowon Estate was an impenetrable wall for crimes and criminals. It has this open security system that scared people away from crime or its intent.

“Mobsters, buglers, robbers and all other criminals struggle to exist as they were easily curtailed, unlike now that some of these vices live with us and criminals have now made this estate their save haven.

“We have designed a security architecture that will give birth to a Gowon Estate Security Council.

“This council will have the CDA liaise with all the security agencies habituating in Gowon for a holistic security model suitable for the people of the area,’’ he said.

On waste collection and disposal, Daud said the CDA would design a model that would “float the community waste administration team through a committee on waste management/septic tanks, drains and other related issues.”
